In every thriving economy, there is an unseen engine driving progress: people. Businesses grow because people grow. Industries evolve because leaders are shaped with intention. For over three decades, Honeywell Group has embedded this philosophy into its corporate leadership development strategy in Nigeria through the Honeywell Excellence Programme (HEP).

In 1993, Honeywell Group founded the Honeywell Excellence Programme on a conviction that remains as urgent today as it was then: deliberately investing in talent strengthens not just an organisation, but the wider Nigerian economy. Leaders are not accidental. They are built through exposure, discipline, responsibility, and values.
Over three decades, HEP has evolved into one of the most consistent corporate leadership development programmes in Nigeria. Its alumni now lead across sectors including the Nigerian oil and gas sector, manufacturing, financial services, real estate, and Nigerian five-star hotels. Each represents a measurable return on long-term institutional investment.
Now, the 10th cohort, launched in February 2026, continues that legacy as a renewed commitment to structured talent transformation and executive grooming aligned with sustainable long-term value creation.

The strongest proof of any leadership development programme is the people it produces.
Reflecting on his journey, Umar Yusuf, a member of the 2014 cohort and now Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, RIPLE, described HEP as: “Without question, the most defining aspect of my career. It did more than just provide a first job; it shaped the person and professional I am today.”
For Olabisi Dudyemi, a member of the 2005 cohort and now Head, Human Resources, Food Manufacturing and Golden Penny Power at Flour Mills of Nigeria, the impact has been equally enduring:
“HEP ingrained the value of excellence in my journey of becoming. It helped paint a clear vision of enduring legacy which shaped and still shapes the way I show up every day.” These are not simply testimonials. They are evidence of a leadership development model that compounds over time, strengthening individuals, organisations, and the broader business ecosystem.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the 10th cohort was formally launched, setting the standard for a rigorous nine-month transformation journey.
The orientation reinforced a culture of intentional growth, stretching beyond comfort, staying disciplined, and embracing responsibility early. Senior leaders shared personal journeys rooted in trust, stewardship, and long-term commitment, reinforcing Honeywell Group’s approach to corporate talent development and leadership transformation in Nigeria.
The cohort was also introduced to Honeywell Group’s long-term investment philosophy, why the Group operates in its chosen sectors, how disciplined capital allocation drives sustainable growth, and how strategic thinking must anchor execution. The orientation culminated with a reminder from the Chief Operating Officer, Tomi Otudeko: “Excellence is the anchor that holds everything and stabilises everything.”

With orientation now concluded, the new cohort moves from introduction to immersion. HEP10 enters a structured nine-month journey combining cross-functional exposure, business simulations, mentorship, and executive engagement. It is designed to produce future-ready leaders in Nigeria who understand how to perform, think strategically, steward responsibly, and build enduring business value.

In markets where institutions are still being strengthened, the organisations that invest in people consistently and structurally across decades are the ones that endure. The Honeywell Excellence Programme is a way of investing in the Nigerian economy that goes beyond capital allocation. It builds the human infrastructure required for sustained economic growth.
As one of the longest-running graduate leadership development initiatives in corporate Nigeria, HEP reinforces Honeywell Group’s commitment to institutional continuity, responsible stewardship, and generational value creation. HEP10 represents the continuation of a 30-year investment in developing principled, performance-driven leaders who will shape industries, strengthen institutions, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth story.
The orientation may be complete. The transformation has just begun.
